Cucurella, Neto, Gusto set to play in UEFA Nations League Finals

Chelsea are officially on holiday at the moment, with Enzo Maresca confirming ten (10) whole days off following our UEFA Conference League triumph on Wednesday. Normally of course we would have many more weeks off at this point, but we do have this FIFA Club World Cup thing starting just a couple weeks, with the first group stage match set for June 16 in Atlanta, GA.

Who needs offseason!?

And for some players, even this 10-day break won’t really be ten days. For example, Thomas Tuchel has asked for five Chelsea players for England’s games next weekend, and they’re not to only ones to be involved in national team action, with Enzo Fernández (Argentina), Nicolas Jackson (Senegal), and Filip Jörgensen (Denmark) all getting call-ups as well.

Perhaps the highest-pressure games await those who got calls from teams involved in the UEFA Nations League Finals, who will contest the semifinals and the final of that tournament next week.

In the first semifinal, on Wednesday, Germany will take on Portugal, with Pedro Neto involved for the latter, alongside Renato Veiga and João Félix. Amusingly, the two loaness were not merited even that much of a mention in [Chelsea official’s round-up](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/chelsea-international-call-ups-and-schedules-for-june-2025) of upcoming international action. We haven’t sold them yet!

In the second semifinal, on Thursday, France will be taking on actual European Champions (and also defending Nations League champions) Spain, with Marc Cucurella unsurprisingly in the squad for the latter (though no Robert Sánchez) and Malo Gusto somewhat more surprisingly in the squad for the former. Gusto has not had a great season, and capped it off with a terrible 45 minutes in the Conference League final, but he will get a chance to add to his solitary senior cap — and hopefully make it the start of his return to better form.

The winners of the semifinals will meet in the final on Sunday.
