Although the season is over for Liverpool supporters, their players are not quite at the finish line just yet.
It has been another long campaign at Anfield, but one which ultimately ended in the most glorious of celebrations.
But after the partying of the past few weeks, some of the Liverpool squad are having to get up and go again with their countries.
With World Cup qualifiers and UEFA Nations League matches to come, there is still plenty for Liverpool players to prepare for.
One player who is set to be given some time off, however, is Alexis Mac Allister.
After missing Liverpool’s final two matches of the season, Mac Allister has pleasingly been given the summer off by Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni. And that can only be good news for the Reds.

Alexis Mac Allister misses out for Argentina
The long international trips in mid-season have often been a problem for Mac Allister. It has usually taken the 26-year-old longer to get back to his usual self than Luis Diaz or Darwin Nunez, for example.
And although the post-season is not quite the same thing, it will undoubtedly help Mac Allister to have the summer completely free.

As per TyC Sports, the reason the Liverpool man has been left out is because he is ‘carrying a discomfort.’
Despite this explanation, it does not appear as though there is anything to worry about from a Liverpool point of view. Arne Slot gave Mac Allister the final two weeks of the season off seemingly as a result of the midfielder needing some time to recover after a long campaign.

Had he then joined up with Argentina, it would have undone a little of the good effects of that decision.
Instead, Mac Allister having a full summer off should allow Liverpool fans to see the best of him next season. The World Cup winner joined up late for pre-season last year and hardly had a break at all after helping Argentina win the Copa America.
Nevertheless, Mac Allister still had an exceptional campaign. Free from any extra workload this time around, he should go up another level again.
Mac Allister can become best in the world
Mac Allister is clearly a player who needs a small rest and reset every now and again. The No. 10 gets through so much work in each and every game that he has to have that little break.
Had he been forced into extending his season, it may not have allowed Mac Allister to get fully recharged ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League title defence.
Instead, he can now take as much time as he needs before coming back ready to dominate again next season.
Throughout the 2024/25 campaign, Mac Allister went from strength to strength in the eyes of Liverpool supporters. Adam Lallana previously called Mac Allister ‘special’ and Reds fans certainly saw that this season.
Having cemented himself as one of the most important players in the Liverpool squad, the Argentina international is now ready to go up another level again and become truly one of the very best midfielders in the world during 2025/26.
