Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been honoured with a shrine in Naples.
This follows a successful first season in Italy that saw the Scottish international win Serie A.

His performances also saw him pick up the Serie A MVP award for the 2024/25 season marking a very successful first campaign in Italy.
The 28 year old is known in Naples as apribottiglie which stands for “the bottle opener”.
This nickname was gained by McTominay for his tendency to score goals when games were 0:0 with 8 of the midfielder’s 12 goals coming when the score was 0:0.
This has led to the midfielder being loved in the one club city – a city that has seen little success in their long history.

The former United man moved from Old Trafford to Naples last summer for a reported fee of £25.7 million which saw his 7 year stay with the club to an end.

This followed a journey that had seen the midfielder come through the United academy before breaking into the Red Devil’s side.
His time at Old Trafford saw many iconic moments that will be remembered by fans of Manchester United for years to come.
Whether it’s his 40 yard screamer against Manchester City or his last minute winner against Brentford, the midfielder offered United fans moments of joy.
The Napoli man was the top scoring midfielder in Serie A during the 2024/25 season scoring 12 goals in 34 games in a campaign that saw him pick up the player of the month award in April whilst subsequently being shortlisted for the May award.
The Scottish international’s success contrasts starkly with United’s 2024/25 season which saw the club miss out on silverware and finish 15th, far away from the European places fans expect the club to finish inside.
