RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba could join Premier League champions Liverpool this summer, according to Football Insider.
Arne Slot, making his debut as a manager in English football, stormed his way to the title with Liverpool, the Reds winning their second-ever Premier League trophy with four games to spare. Winning with a 10-point advantage on second-placed Arsenal by the season’s end, Liverpool never looked likely to relinquish top spot.
Since being crowned, the Reds have wasted little time. Trent Alexander-Arnold has joined Real Madrid and in his place, Liverpool have signed Jeremie Frimpong. Slot’s side are, seemingly, far from done in the transfer market and are hoping to sign Florian Wirtz amidst links to other players.
Now, reports are suggesting that the Anfield side are keen to bolster their defensive numbers this summer.
Lukeba to Liverpool?

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are on “high alert” about Castello Lukeba. The defender joined RB Leipzig from Lyon in 2023 and has developed well in the Bundesliga. The club’s failure to qualify for Champions League football next season, however, has opened the door for Lukeba to leave.

Football Insider reported that Lukeba, who has been described as a "duel monster," has a £74 million release clause in his contract, something that could entice Liverpool into making a move for the defender. Jarell Quansah has been linked with a move away and should he leave the club, the Reds would need to replace him in the squad.
In Lukeba, Liverpool would be signing a young centre-back, a player with room to grow yet one who already has experience of playing at the highest level of European football. Should he join, then Slot’s side would only further reinforce the message they have sent thus far, that their title is one they intend on defending.
