Antony has sent a goodbye message to the club following the 2024/25 season.
The winger, who was on loan at Real Betis, has posted on Instagram saying goodbye to Real Betis supporters following his loan that ran for the duration of the second half of the season.
In a heartfelt message, the 25 year old thanked Betis supporters for their support and for welcoming Antony into the club. As well as this, the former Ajax man thanked the club for reminding him of why he fell in love with football.
Antony’s Unsuccessful Manchester United Career
When Antony initially signed for Manchester United for a fee in excess of £80 million, big expectations were put onto his shoulders – mainly because of the fee paid for him but also because of his performances at Ajax.
After a minorly successful start to his United career which saw him score in all of his opening 3 games – something never done in a Red Devils shirt, the winger’s viral actions such as his fidget spinner-esque skill move cast a different shadow on him.
This combined with a run of poor form changed his reputation within the club’s fanbase.
Even with this, the 25 year old was still able to contribute to crucial moments.
Scoring the winner in the Europa League play-off against Barcelona and scoring and assisting in that epic 4-3 win over Liverpool in the 2023/24 FA Cup quarter-final are two moments that stand out within his United portfolio and are prime examples of the player Antony can be.
However, following an unsuccessful start to the 2024/25 campaign, the winger was sent out to Real Betis in the hope that he could become his best self again. This is something he was able to achieve.
