Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has risked upsetting his club bosses further by appearing to aim a pointed dig at the Red Devils' controversial post-season tour of Asia. United played against ASEAN All-Stars and the Hong Kong national team just days after a miserable campaign came to an end.
Garnacho featured in both friendly matches, despite reportedly being told by Ruben Amorim that he is free to find a new club over the summer. The 20-year-old criticised his head coach's selection in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and may face further backlash for his recent social media post.
United touched down in Manchester on Saturday to return from Asia and now players can begin their summer holidays. Garnacho seemingly cannot wait to take a break from football as he shared his delight at returning, venting his frustration at the post-season tour.
On his Instagram story, Garnacho posted a photo of the United plane wing landing on the tarmac, captioning his picture: "Finally." It was accompanied by three emojis; a crying face, prayer hands and a beach.
He seems overjoyed that United's disastrous tour has come to an end, even though it could be the last time he puts on a club shirt. Discussions regarding a summer exit are expected to step up.
Another of Garnacho's team-mates landed himself in hot water on the trip, when Amad was caught raising his middle finger to a supporter while leaving the team hotel in Malaysia.
He avoided internal punishment and took to social media to explain that he does not regret the incident, after abuse was shouted regarding his mother.
"I have respect for people but not for the one who insults my mom…" Amad said on X (formerly known as Twitter). "I shouldn't have reacted like that but I don't regret what I did. We had a great time in Malaysia with good people."
