There is no quarterback in college football (without the last name Manning) who is more hyped than Penn State third-year starter Drew Allar. The rising senior signal-caller could play his way into the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft with a strong showing this fall.
He already looks leaner and stronger in 2025 than he did just a few months ago!
Allar, a five-star prospect in the college football recruiting Class of 2022, committed to the Nittany Lions over 23 other offers from schools like Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Washington, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. It has been an up-and-down career. (Mostly up!)
Although Allar threw for more than 3,300 yards with 24 touchdowns last season, he occasionally shows inconsistent accuracy, struggles with mobility and underperforms in high-pressure situations. Those are things that can be fixed. Those are things he is expected to fix.
If he can put it all together over the next seven months, Allar’s arm talent could win him the Heisman Trophy. He is good enough to be in the conversation and can be even better. We’ll see.
One thing is for certain. Drew Allar looks every bit the part of an NFL quarterback. Penn State listed him on the roster at 6-foot-5, 236 pounds as a junior.
As I see it, Allar likely weighs closer to 230 prior to his senior season. He undoubtedly cut fat and gained muscle during the offseason. And this not to say the Nittany Lions’ quarterback was overweight or out of shape before. I just wouldn’t say he was jacked, if you will.

There was already a noticeable difference in his physique at the spring game last month. He leaned out.

It was even more clear during a recent video from his offseason training program. Allar looks stronger.

I am excited to see what he can do with another year of development under his belt. It is now or never!
Drew Allar is expected to take a huge step forward prior to his third year as the starting quarterback. He obviously changed his physique to better suit his style of play and thinned out to give him some extra mobility. We’ll see if it pays off. College football season cannot come soon enough!
