The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait for veteran Aaron Rodgers to see if he will take over as the next quarterback of the team. Rodgers has been reportedly weighing his future, with the Steelers as the more likely landing spot if he continues his NFL career.

However, the Steelers are currently without a starting-caliber signal-caller as things stand today. The team has been patient with Rodgers, but his decision seems to be ongoing.
Due to this, rumors have started about Pittsburgh looking elsewhere for a quarterback. Veteran Kirk Cousins has come about, and there have been plenty of rumors around the pairing coming together.
However, Mike Renner of CBS issued a warning to the Steelers on the entire situation.
"I think this would be a terrible idea to give up any sort of draft capital to pay Kirk Cousins any sort of money whatsoever at this point in time," Renner said. "He's 36. He'll be 37 in August. His arm was too weak for a dome."
Cousins was benched down the stretch of last season due to inconsistent play with the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran put up 3,508 yards with 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions over 14 games.
In all fairness to Cousins, he was coming off a torn Achilles injury, which could have led to the struggles. But there was real concern over the arm strength of the veteran, leading more into the warning from Renner.
"His arm is not strong enough to play in the...it's the most demanding arm-strength division in the NFL," Renner added about the Steelers possibly pursuing Cousins. "You have four northern outdoor stadiums in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Pittsburgh. Obviously, in Pittsburgh, where it's one of, if not the, most demanding in terms of arm-strength stadium in the NFL."
The AFC North is one of the more demanding divisions in the entire NFL, with each team bringing a physical style of play to the table. Cousins may be better suited for a different environment, especially at this point in his career.
But Pittsburgh may not have any other choices if Rodgers doesn't sign soon or decides to retire. While Mason Rudolph is an option, he hasn't proven himself well over the course of his career.
Rudolph owns a career record of 9-8-1, throwing for 4,615 yards with 28 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Pittsburgh is looking to go after a Super Bowl next season, and unless the team figures out the quarterback situation soon, the outlook could look very grim.
