Steven Gerrard has raved about Paris Saint-Germain star Desire Doue after Manchester United links last summer. The French talent was starting in the Champions League final for the Parisians as they took on Inter Milan.

Doue has starred for Luis Enrique's side throughout their Knockout Phase pursuit as they come of age during the business end of the campaign. PSG won the race to his signature from Rennes ahead of Bayern Munich and after United, Arsenal and Spurs all reportedly registered interest.

The 19-year-old fired his way onto the world stage in Munich as he was the catalyst in a ferocious start from the Ligue 1 champions.

Doue perfectly disguised his pass to tee up Achraf Hakimi for the opener before his volley deflected past Yann Sommer to double their lead during a dominant first-half.

Gerrard featured on TNT Sports' coverage of the Champions League final at the Allianz Arena and the former Liverpool captain explained how those Premier League clubs previously missed out on a player that he tipped to dominate world football for the next decade.

"He must have the mindset," he said pre-match.

"To make the move for €50million at such a short age, how many players have we seen that go to their head and they fall away?

"This lad looks hungry and the real deal.

"He looks confident, I'm watching him warm-up and it looks like he's playing in the back garden.

"I can't wait to watch him for the next 10 years."

Doue shrugged off a difficult period, which saw him trudge off during their League Phase encounter with Arsenal, to end Liverpool's chances in the competition.

PSG overturned a first-goal deficit to beat the Anfield club, winning via a penalty shootout on Merseyside, before overcoming the challenge of Aston Villa and Arsenal to reach the final.

After winning the treble with Barcelona, Enrique - thanks to Doue - was within 45 minutes of another famous achievement.
