Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan are ready to battle Chelsea and Tottenham for the signature of Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
Simone Inzaghi has worked wonders at Inter Milan, helping them reestablish themselves as one of the top teams in Europe. While things are going according to plan for the Italian giants, the manager’s future has recently become a major talking point.
In their attempt to convince the 49-year-old to continue at the club, Inter are willing to make some big moves in the upcoming transfer window. They are willing to add more quality to ensure Inzaghi continues at all costs. According to TEAMtalk via InterLive, Inter are set to compete with Chelsea and Tottenham for the signature of Marc Guehi.
While things didn’t work out for Guehi at Chelsea, the move to Crystal Palace has helped him continue his development as a player. The 24-year-old has established himself as a key figure in the team and has also broken into the England national team with his consistent performances.
He is widely regarded as one of the best young defenders in England and there is no shortage of interest in him. While a host of clubs wanted to sign him last summer, he decided to continue at Palace for another season. But this time around, he might be ready to take the next step in his career.
Chelsea and Tottenham keen on signing Guehi
With him set to enter the final year of his contract, even Palace could look to cash in on him. They won’t want to risk losing out on him for free. Chelsea and Tottenham are two clubs who are very keen on signing him.
While it might not have worked for him at Chelsea back in the day, they are ready to once again bet on the 24-year-old. The Blues want a new central defender who can slot into Enzo Maresca’s starting XI and Guehi could certainly help their cause.
Meanwhile, Spurs are also looking for a new defender amidst uncertainty around the future of Cristian Romero. The Argentine international could make a move to Atletico Madrid this summer and they could look to fill that void with Guehi.
Inter Milan to rival the London clubs
However, both English clubs are set to face significant competition from Inter Milan, who are planning to big this summer in hopes of keeping Inzaghi at the club amidst links with Al-Hilal. Club chiefs Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are both working hard to add more quality to their squad.
They are looking at Guehi to bolster their backline as he is an ideal fit for the manager’s system. While it will require a significant outlay of at least €50 million, Inter seem willing to make that kind of investment. Meanwhile, the player could be interested in a move as it will allow him to compete at the highest level and feature regularly in the Champions League.
