Casemiro came to Manchester United off the back of a lucrative career that had seen the midfielder win multiple Champions Leagues, La Ligas and much more.

With a reputation recognisable to players, managers and fans alike in the footballing world, there was suitable expectations placed onto his shoulders when he came to United that he would be able to contribute to the side and that he would be able to succeed whilst at the club.

In elements, we have seen this. His last minute goal away at Chelsea and his singular goal against West Ham this season stand out. But in large elements, Casemiro arguably hasn’t been the Champions League winning midfielder that he was in 2018.

Age is an obvious contributing factor. The midfielder is now 33 years old and unfortunately isn’t getting any younger. This could be contributing to his decreasing ability. This has led to United looking for new options to replace Casemiro

Casemiro’s Turkish Interest

However, with a move to Besiktas now on the cards according to reports, the Brazilian may be on his way out of the club and onto newer prospects.

Besiktas currently sit 4th in the Super Lig (Türkiye’s top division) on 59 points but are far from the 95 points that leaders Galatasaray currently sit on.

With European football for next season secured, the club will be looking to bring new talent alongside experience to the club as they hope to construct a side good enough to compete at the top end of Super Lig next season.

In large ways, Casemiro brings immense experience to a side with his track record of success. If he was to enter the side, he would be older than the two current defensive midfielders. Therefore, he would have to bring his experience and help to nurture players in a similar form to the way he has done at United.

If the move was to happen, it was arguably benefit both sides. The Red Devils would free up space in their squad whilst the Turkish side would bring an experienced and cultured midfielder to their side.
