Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has made a fresh contract request to Al-Hilal, according to Saudi outlet Al Riyadh.
The Portugal international has been a key player for the Red Devils. He was brilliant last term, with 19 goals and 19 assists.
Fernandes may have played his final game for United as he is ‘seriously considering‘ a move to the Saudi Pro League with Al-Hilal.
Al-Hilal recently proposed a four-year deal worth £21 million per season, but Fernandes wants a three-year contract worth £25m per season with £5-7m in add-ons.
Fernandes appears poised to move to Saudi
United have missed out on at least £85m next season after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
This is expected to hamper their summer transfer business. Part of the spending spree could depend on recouping funds from player sales.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are sellable assets for United, but there is no guarantee of incoming funds at the moment.
Club are well aware of United’s financial position and could seek to bargain on the final price.
With this in mind, we are not surprised that the club are open to parting ways with Fernandes. Al-Hilal are ready to pay around £100m.
Losing Fernandes is a massive blow for the Red Devils, but United could make multiple signings after his big-money switch to Saudi Arabia.
They have already agreed to land Matheus Cunha, who should add creativity in the final third.
Fernandes’ exit could pave the way for another top-class playmaker to partner up with Cunha.
It could be only a matter of time before Fernandes departs. His willingness to ask for a bigger payday suggests he is open to the move.
