The New England Patriots believed that a new era of football was beginning when Mike Vrabel was hired as head coach. For the Buffalo Bills, the moves made by the Patriots this offseason had them away of their young rival.
That was, until the last week transpired.
Despite some key additions, one player who has not been with the Patriots has been wide receiver Stefan Diggs. The All-Pro signed a three-year deal with New England in March to be their top receiver.
Diggs seems to have gotten himself in trouble, though.
The star wide receiver landed himself in some hot water earlier this week when video emerged of him joining rumored girlfriend Cardi B for a boat outing with an unidentified pink substance seen in videos and photos. He was not at OTAs for New England this week.
So staggering was this move by Diggs, that NFL reporter Albert Breer even wondered if the no-nonsense approach of Vrabel would think of cutting the receiver before playing a down.
"My guess would be the reason he wasn't at practice, this is purely a guess, my guess would be the reason he wasn't at practice the other day might be because Mike told him to stay away. Maybe, they're sorting through everything now," said Breer during an appearance on Boston radio station 98.5 The Hub.
We aren't going to know what that pink substance was in the video for Diggs. He hasn't been arrested and this is still the voluntary portion of offseason activities.
If he arrives at mandatory minicamp, this really shouldn't be much of an issue. Even so, Vrabel's own message is about to be put to the test.
And a team like the Bills only have to look back at the exploits of their former receiver and just laugh.
