Former Newcastle United star Steven Taylor is enjoying a fine time of things as a coach out in Dubai.
Indeed, Taylor is managing Dubai-based club Al Qabila FC and has linked up with a former Newcastle United teammate.
Taylor has been joined by a certain Papiss Cisse, who played alongside the defender for a time at St James’ Park.
While obviously not the highest of levels, it’s important to remember that this is only the Newcastle United academy graduate’s second job in management.
And what a time he is having.

The 39-year-old also won promotions while working at Gulf United between 2023 and 2024.
Having moved clubs, the success continued. Al Qabila drew 1-1 with United FC 11 on Saturday, with Cisse scoring the goal.
That made it four consecutive promotions for Taylor in the UAE and, naturally, he took to Instagram after the result.
He posted a graphic and captioned the post: “A perfect four straight promotions in 4 seasons in the UAE. History achieved.”

Papiss Cisse is on fire under Steven Taylor
Cisse has scored a lot of goals under Taylor’s management, which is heartwarming to see.
The two played for Newcastle during a largely bleak period for the club. While there were some high points, the club is now almost unrecognisable compared to how they operated back in those days.
Perhaps Taylor’s story at St James’ Park is unfinished. While he has a long way to go before he’s managing in the traditional big leagues, more success will surely put him on the radar of other clubs.
If he can get into a position where he’s excelling in management at a higher level, the Newcastle job may not be out of reach in years to come.
For now, however, it’s just brilliant to see the two enjoying success together, no matter the level of football.
