‘Thank you for everything’ - Bruno Guimaraes drops emotional hint on future to Newcastle United …

Bruno Guimaraes will almost certainly lead Newcastle United into the Champions League next season.

Bruno Guimaraes has ordered Newcastle United supporters to rally behind the team as they prepare for a Premier League and Champions League campaign.

A memorable season resulted in Guimaraes lifting the Carabao Cup - becoming the first Toon skipper to win a domestic honour since 1955. Defeat to Everton on the final day failed to dampen the Tyneside mood as the Magpies celebrated Champions League football.

Guimaraes was linked with a possible exit 12 months ago as Newcastle negotiated a £100million release clause in his contract. However, the Brazilian committed his future to St James’ Park and being made captain gave him a fresh lease of life.

Bruno Guimaraes is going nowhere

There has been zero talk of the 27-year-old moving on and all the noises suggest he wants to lead Newcastle into European action next season. Writing on Instagram, Guimaraes vowed to “make more history” as Toon captain in a defiant message ahead of the summer window.

“Well, I think this season was exactly everything I imagined before it started,” he wrote. “I don’t think even the best screenwriter could have written a story as beautiful as ours. I’m very grateful to be part of this team.

“Thank you for all the support throughout the season, NUFC fans. (The) 24/25 (season) was magical, and we want more and more to make history for this club! Thank you for everything, and we’re counting on you for next season.”

Dick Guimaraes is just as popular at Newcastle United

Guimaraes father, Dick, has become somewhat of a local celebrity since his son joined Newcastle in January 2022. The former taxi driver can be seen at every game supporting the Toon skipper and he is also relishing the Champions League.

“This affection that Newcastle fans have for my son and my family is very special,” Guimaraes Sr posted on social media last week. “I love Newcastle! Thank you my son Bruno for all this. Let’s go Champions League!”

Bruno Guimaraes wants Newcastle United signings

Toon skipper Bruno Guimaraes is keen for incomings to bolster Newcastle’s ranks this summer. He said after the final-day defeat to Everton: "We have improved a lot, but I think we're not at the level that I want. I think for next season, we are going to need more players to be honest with you because I think the squad is a little bit short.

"We saw it last year when we played in the Champions League, we lost some players for injury and then it was busy for us. I think we can improve our level because next year, our season will have one more competition."
