'Not okay in my eyes': David Beckham slams Man United players after what happened on the Asia Tour

Manchester United legend David Beckham has not held back in his criticism of his club’s current situation.

The Red Devils suffered a miserable season, finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham.

They then flew to Asia for a post-season tour which sparked more controversy than excitement.

Alejandro Garnacho drew backlash for appearing disinterested during a fan meet-and-greet, while Amad Diallo was caught making an inappropriate gesture towards a supporter.

And Beckham has now brutally slammed the current crop of players for their lack of respect for the Man United badge.

David Beckham blasts Manchester United players

Beckham minced no words as he voiced his disappointment with the current state of Manchester United.

While he avoided naming individuals, he appeared to hint at recent controversies, criticising the behaviour of players.

Beckham stressed the importance of respecting fans, whether the club is playing in Europe or Asia.

Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, he said: “I don’t like seeing some of the things that is going on at the club. You know on the pitch is what counts but in all honesty, I’m seeing a lot of things that are not on the pitch that are not okay in my eyes as a fan and as a lover of Manchester United.

“You have to represent the badge and that’s what it’s about. And I’ve seen a lot of things where players are not acting in the right manner.

“You know we were part of a team that was so well mannered. We understood what it meant to play for Manchester United. We understood what the badge meant. Wherever we travelled, whether it was in Europe or in Asia, you respected the fans. You respected the fact they are turning up, paying money and wanting you to sign and take pictures, you respect that.”

Problems at Manchester United are much deep-rooted

The club’s problems extend behind the scenes, with INEOS coming under much criticism for some of the decisions made since taking over the operations.

They have been slammed for their aggressive cost-cutting measures, such as terminating Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassador role, cutting staff perks like free meals, and raising ticket prices. Sir Jim Ratcliffe even cancelled the staff Christmas party to save money.

The trip to Asia right after the dismal season has also been criticised, with a report claiming that United players were left fuming at the club’s decision.

However, Man United need to pay Adidas £10m after failing to qualify for the Champions League. And with the Asia tour generating the club £8m, it made perfect financial sense for the owners even if at the expense of the well-being of players.
