'Worse than Sancho'… Man United fans can't believe latest Alejandro Garnacho controversy

Alejandro Garnacho’s future as a Manchester United player is certainly in doubt this summer.

The start of June marks the opening of the summer transfer window and Manchester United are expected to be very busy in the coming weeks.

Ineos plan to overhaul Ruben Amorim’s squad after a miserable 2024/25 campaign saw the Red Devils finish trophyless and in 15th place in the Premier League table.

Losing the Europa League final was a bitter blow for United, and it was made worse by Alejandro Garnacho’s comments in Bilbao where he appeared to take a dig at Ruben Amorim.

Since then, Garnacho has been told to leave United with Amorim ready to replace the Argentine after his outburst. It seems Alejandro Garnacho is still not done showing his displeasure…

Man United fans react to Alejandro Garnacho one-word post

After a disappointing end to the season, United players were dragged on a post-season tour of Asia organised by Ineos to raise £8 million in revenue.

The tour was ’embarrassing’ for United fans and it certainly didn’t seem like players were enjoying it either. After landing back in Manchester, Garnacho posted a one-word story on his Instagram that read: “Finally”.

United fans on social media read it as a swipe at the club and the recent tour, and supporters were unhappy with what appears to be more public frustration from Garnacho.

One fan on X wrote: “Anyone can say what they like but this kid is not conducting himself appropriately. I’m sure there’s other players who feel the same way but posting it doesn’t show respect for the club.”

Another wrote: “He’s gonna regret all these things he’s doing when he is older and he’s going to say ‘oh I didn’t know how big Manchester United was'”.

Fans seem to be leaning towards Garnacho being sold after seeing his post… “Please get this lad gone. His talent and output levels don’t weigh well against his attitude and the amount of sly digs and outbursts he gives,” one fan wrote.

One fan even claimed: “He’s worse than Sancho goddamn”.

Others kept their responses short and to the point. One fan wrote: “He’s got to go…” while another added: “Worst attitude ever”.

Alejandro Garnacho set for bitter Man United exit

It seems Garnacho is now destined to join the likes of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford by making frosty exits from the club this summer.

Sancho publicly argued with Erik ten Hag before the fanbase turned on him and he was loaned to Chelsea this season. In slightly less dramatic fashion, Rashford was frozen out by Amorim before eventually being loaned to Aston Villa.

Garnacho has come up through United’s academy ranks and grown to be a key player in this side, but there are some worrying red flags about his attitude that suggest Ineos will cash in on him this summer.

Amorim made sure not to dent Garnacho’s value by bringing him along with the squad for the post-season tour, but the 20-year-old is making it more and more clear to other clubs that he is unhappy and headed for the exit.

Ten Hag has shown interest in Garnacho since taking charge at Bayer Leverkusen, while the likes of Napoli and Atletico Madrid continue to be linked with a potential move.
