Manchester City fans cannot wait to see Rodri back in action properly, after the midfielder recently made his long-awaited return to the pitch.
Rodri got minutes in Manchester City’s final home game of the season against Bournemouth, and the expectation is that he will now build on that cameo at the Club World Cup.
Rodri had been sidelined since September, after damaging knee ligaments.
It was something that would have a major impact on City’s season, with the team massively struggling in his absence.
But the Spaniard is now ready to get back to it, and fans are really hoping he can reach similar levels to what he was showing before the injury.
And the situation is promising, according to the latest reports.

Rodri wowed fans earlier this season as video footage showed his intense rehabilitation, which led some to think he may have returned a lot sooner.
In the end, Rodri only came back in City’s penultimate Premier League game.
But the fact that he was actually able to still take to the pitch before the end of the 2024/25 season really is a testament to his mentality and work ethic.
And these things have really impressed City.
According to the Mirror, the club have been left ‘astonished’ by Rodri’s recovery from injury and the speed at which he’s got back playing.
And now, they are ready to hand him a new contract worth over £300,000 per week, making him the second-highest earner behind Erling Haaland.
The new deal for Rodri that is being proposed would keep him at the club until 2029, and the expectation is that Rodri will sign.
Rodri signing new contract would be major boost for Man City
Rodri signing a new contract at Manchester City would make many people very happy. And it would be especially welcome knowing Real Madrid are looking at Rodri ahead of the summer.
The 28-year-old has been sensational over the past few years and is currently the best player in the world following his Ballon d’Or win last year.
The injury he sustained was a huge blow for City and pretty much wrecked the club’s season.
Rodri for Man City (2019-present)
Appearances – 261
Goals – 26
Assists – 31
Trophies – 11
Hopefully, he’ll now be able to pick up where he left off. Of course, with these types of injuries, there’s always a chance a player may never be the same.
That is something City will have considered, but clearly the club feel confident the Rodri of old will return.
Certainly, knowing how the player operates and what kind of mentality he has, there’s every chance City will get their midfield general back as we all remember him.
