“Must be respected” – Agent speaks of player’s future amidst Nottingham Forest talk

Over the past week or so, Nottingham Forest have been mentioned as candidates for Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni in the summer.

A major reason for the speculation is the Roman club’s failure to qualify for European competitions and how it can lead to potential sales of their major players.

Zaccagni’s agent Mario Giufreddi has now spoken about the winger’s future and has played down talk of a move to Nottingham Forest or any other club.

In a chat with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, as relayed by LaLazioSiamoNoi, he said: “Zaccagni? Napoli has always appreciated him in the past, I don’t know if Conte likes him because I’ve never spoken to him about it.”

Further, Giufreddi made it clear that it is ‘premature’ to speak of his client’s future as he signed a new Lazio contract quite recently.

“Zaccagni has just renewed his contract, it’s premature to talk about the transfer market for him. His will is to stay at Lazio and it must be respected.”

This suggests that Nottingham Forest are likely to miss out on the Italian and there have been similar indications across the week that Zaccagni is keen on staying at Lazio

Zaccagni has scored eight times and racked up six assists in the 2024/25 season and also scored a vital goal for Italy at the European Championships. In the 2023/24 season, he scored six times and assisted three times.

He’s been a consistent performer in attack and it seems as if Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have to turn to other targets. That doesn’t appear too much of an issue for Nottingham Forest given they’ve been linked with multiple wingers recently.
