Rodrygo has been struggling with injuries in recent weeks and if Fichajes’ latest report is to be believed then the Brazilian international could be sold in the coming months.
The winger’s last game for Real Madrid was on May 26 in the Copa del Rey final where he was taken off at half-time. Since then, he has been on and off in training sessions and currently, Los Blancos are rethinking their summer plans.
Xabi Alonso has become the new manager and according to the report, Madrid want full commitment from the Brazilian. The management has given an ultimatum to Rodrygo that he needs to convince the new manager or else, they won’t hesitate to cash in on him.
Rodrygo has already hinted that he is unhappy with his playing position and now his lack of dedication is also raising some eyebrows. Last year he was linked with an exit but ultimately chose to stay. That may not be the case this summer.
What could be the next destination for Rodrygo?
Any player will think twice before leaving a club like Real Madrid but the 24-year-old has a long list of admirers who will happily want him on board. Madrid will demand around €80-100 million for the winger and the clubs who are interested will be more than happy to pay that much.
The first and obvious interest is from the English Premier League and almost every top club has been linked with Rodrygo.
Arsenal and Chelsea have already held discussions with the player’s representatives and according to some rumours, the Gunners are even willing to offer William Saliba in a swap deal. Real Madrid have an interest in Saliba which is why Arsenal want to tempt them into agreeing to a straight swap deal.
Chelsea, on the other hand, are ready to meet Real Madrid’s financial demands and because they have no competition on the left flank, the winger won’t mind joining them.
Manchester City have also registered an interest and with Jack Grealish set to leave, Pep Guardiola needs to find a suitable replacement. However, if the City manager intends to use Rodrygo on the right-hand side, he won’t be too keen to join them.
Newcastle United, since securing Champions League football, have also been linked with the Brazilian international and the transfer price won’t be a problem for them either. However, with so many other teams interested in him, the Magpies will be the last option that Rodrygo will consider.
Outside of the EPL, PSG and Atletico Madrid have been keeping tabs on the winger but we doubt if Rodrygo will want to join Diego Simeone’s side anytime soon. PSG, however, have just won the UCL and they will be the ideal destination for the 24-year-old.
Conclusion:
If Rodrygo decides to leave the Bernabeu he will easily get the opportunity to play for a top European club but we have a feeling, he wants to remain at the club and win the trust of his new manager.
Xabi Alonso will bring in fresh tactics next season and if the manager allows Rodrygo to play in his preferred role regularly, there’s no reason for him to find a new club.
