West Ham Transfer Blunder That Could Get Very Awkward

West Ham’s end-of-season flourish against Ipswich, propelling us to the giddy heights of 14th in the Premier League, was reason enough for me to pack my bags and head off on holiday.

If I’m honest, school half-term played just as big a part in the decision as the season’s end, but the intention was to switch off from technology completely following a dire season.

However, West Ham news and gossip travels fast—and it seems even permeates the most isolated regions in Norway. Despite my intention to mute my phone, something slipped through Android quarantine and flashed up on my screen.

It was only a fleeting glance at a notification proclaiming: “Ipswich and Lille Eye £10m Mubama as Delap & David Replacements.” What the hell!

Call it clickbait headlines or whatever you want—but I couldn’t resist. This most unlikely story had to be investigated further, and none other than super football ITK Fabrizio Romano was leading the charge on this one.

Divin Mubama-West Ham-Conference League

Divin Mubama joined Pep’s Manchester City

Whether it’s true or not, I honestly couldn’t say—but I was gobsmacked, to say the least. Because as I remember it, Mubama played a solitary Premier League game for Manchester City last season and scored a goal in a cup match… that’s it.

So if Lille and Ipswich really have decided the West Ham academy graduate is the man to replace Liam Delap and Jonathan David, then it’s surely off the back of his potential.

Which begs the question: if other clubs believe Mubama is good enough to replace top-level strikers and Manchester City wanted him… why did West Ham let him go?

Only time will tell, of course—it’s entirely possible the transfer rumour is just a load of nonsense. But if Hammers fan Mubama leaves Manchester City for £10m and ends up playing European football for Lille next season, the decision-makers at West Ham will look very silly indeed.
