Luis Diaz has quashed rumours of a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia by expressing his happiness at Liverpool. With two years remaining on his Anfield contract and attention from multiple clubs, the Colombian star's future is a hot topic. The 28-year-old winger played a key role in Liverpool's title-winning season, contributing 17 goals and eight assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.
Despite this success, speculation about his long-term commitment to Liverpool has been rife, with Barcelona and Al-Nassr reportedly showing interest. Barcelona's sporting director Deco has openly praised Diaz, and the player's father has mentioned that playing for the Spanish club would be a "dream" for his son. On the other hand, Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr are believed to be monitoring Diaz as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
But speaking to the club's official website, Diaz said: "I feel I'm going through a really good period. I'm really happy to be here, to be part of this great institution, this great club and to have great team-mates around me.
"From the moment I arrived, I felt great pride. I always tried to work hard for this, and to see that nowadays things are working out for me fills me with pride and I'm really happy because that's what I work for.
"[But] we are nobodies without our team-mates. We are a team. The forwards and wingers always try to help with goals and assists, and right now I've achieved good numbers to back that up.
"It's about playing and then playing well, supporting the team in the way I play and enjoying it, like always."
Liverpool have secured key players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah on new deals and are preparing for significant changes in the next transfer window.
The club welcomed Jeremie Frimpong in a £29.5million deal as Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement, and negotiations continue regarding a lucrative move for another Bayer Leverkusen player in Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool might still see high-profile exits to balance their books. Potential leavers include Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Andy Robertson, but there’s also uncertainty surrounding Diaz, whose value could diminish if he doesn’t pen a new deal.
"We will be talking, the talk about it (his future) will happen," he disclosed recently. "For me, I'd stay for as long as possible.
"It also depends on the club, it all depends on the details. They're all details that are sorted out separately. But I am very calm, very happy and I am enjoying the Premier League."
