Internationals: Macario among the goals in USA win

Cat Macario netted for the United States as they defeated China 3-0 in Minnesota.

The latest round of international fixtures, all friendly matches, took place on Saturday and Macario’s 28th minute strike was the pick of the Chelsea involvement.

Macario helped Emma Hayes’ side to a routine victory with a fine performance as the figurehead of the USA’s attack – opening the scoring before the half-hour mark with a tidy finish following a scramble in the area.

Then, the Chelsea attacker set up Sam Coffey to double the host’s lead, before starting off the counter for the third goal, finished by Lindsey Heaps.

She was substituted on 70 minutes to a standing ovation, following a superb individual display.

[Naomi Girma](/en/teams/profile/naomi-girma) also played for the United States, helping the side claim a clean sheet in the victory and remaining on the field throughout – even taking the armband when Heaps was replaced.

Elsewhere, [Maika Hamano](/en/teams/profile/maika-hamano) played the entire 90 minutes for Japan in their clash with Brazil in Sao Paulo, but the visitors were unable to stop Brazil who proved too strong and won 3-1.
