Man Utd's Alejandro Garnacho price tag emerges as Chelsea eye a bargain

Garnacho is expected to cost in the region of £40million, a bargain fee lower than the £60m that was reportedly demanded in January when Chelsea and Napoli first showed their interest.

No deal was able to be reached during the season, but United are expected to be much more receptive this summer after Amorim showed his hand.

Any potential sale would be a major boost to the coffers as Garnacho counts as a homegrown sale and any funds received would be able to be reinvested. United missed out on the financial rewards of featuring in European competition next season.

With United struggling to find suitors for fellow outcasts Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, selling Garnacho may be one of a few ways the Red Devils’ chiefs can raise funds to overhaul the squad.

Amorim could only chuckle during a press conference when Amad was asked about Garnacho’s future on the club’s Asia tour.

Amad then answered: "Alejandro is a really good player and we need good players in the team. I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season. It is not really a big issue for the team. Everything is good now."

The United boss played down suggestions that Garnacho would not appear on the trip, insisting: “It is not a surprise. He is a player of Manchester United – all the players are here. Some players are injured and it was better for them not to fly here to play these two games. It is a normal situation."
