Marcus Rashford while on loan at Aston Villa
Marcus Rashford is subject of interest from Barcelona amid uncertainty over his future at Man United
Marcus Rashford has been continuing his recovery from injury in a bid to return to full fitness amid ongoing uncertainty about his future at Manchester United.
The 27-year-old winger's spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa having fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim. Rashford made 17 appearances in all competitions under Unai Emery before suffering an injury that sidelined him for the last four Premier League games of the season.
Although Villa have the option his move permanent for a fee of £40million, their failure to qualify for the Champions League next season has cast doubt over that move. Meanwhile, Rashford reportedly 'dreams' of playing for Barcelona one day and is said to be willing to take a pay cut from his £350,000-a-week salary.
However, according to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are unwilling to meet United’s asking price and are instead exploring a loan move.
Nonetheless, United are reportedly refusing to consider anything other than a permanent transfer at this stage. The report suggests that if no deal is reached by the final stages of the summer window, they may reconsider and agree to a loan - but only after exhausting all other options.
The winger has been working behind the scenes to stay in top shape as he awaits any update on his situation.
Taking to Instagram, Rashford shared a video of himself running on an athletics track, accompanied by the caption: 'The work doesn't stop! Let's go."
When asked about Rashford, Reds head coach Ruben Amorim previously explained: "All the players that are on loan, they will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season.
"The talent of Rashford, even Antony [at Real Betis], they have talent. They have to put that on the team. We are really happy because if you put one player on loan, the best thing for us is for them to perform and they are performing."
