**PITTSBURGH --** Heading into his third season, the [Pittsburgh Steelers](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/) are in a make-or-break year with cornerback [Cory Trice](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/2025/01/promising-pittsburgh-steelers-cornerback-makes-first-career-start.html). Trice suffered a torn ACL in his first season and then missed a large chunk of his second year after pulling his hamstring.
Health alone is a critical factor for him. So, seeing him perform on the football field is an excellent start for the Steelers’ third-year player.
If he can just stay healthy, the Steelers might have something in Cory Trice. He had some incredibly promising reps against Ja’Marr Chase in their game last year, and Trice came out in the first week of OTAs again with a strong start to the offseason.
Can he stave off the injury bug and push for a role this season? We will see, but Trice looked fluid and instinctual to start his third year of OTAs.
Trice was selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Performance was never an issue for him, as his tape at Purdue could have made him a late day two or early day three pick.
Trice fell down the board due to injury concerns, including those that had arisen in the NFL. During his college days, he suffered a torn ACL, which he suffered the year before he graduated from Purdue.
If Trice can continue his strong start into the summer, he will not only make the roster but could also push for playing time in the team’s sub-packages. Still, just seeing him on the field might be the most important step.
