Fox Sports says the quiet part out loud about Jalen Hurts' supporting cast

There aren't many NFL offenses that can match the level of talent the Philadelphia Eagles have on their roster.

This was an offense that ranked eighth in the NFL in total offense, averaging 367.2 yards per game a season ago. It was the running game, though, that propelled them as they were just behind the Baltimore Ravens in rushing yards per game with 179.3 per game.

Philadelphia can attribute this to numerous factors that have helped keep this offense at the top of its game over the last three years. What helped previous year was the friends they were able to surround the franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts with.

Hurts' supporting cast is in an elite category that no NFL team can match

FOX NFL reporter David Helman compiled a ranking of the top 32 supporting casts for their quarterbacks in the NFL. The Eagles found themselves at number one thanks to the continuity that will come of the offense entering 2025.

"The top spot might be the easiest to figure out in this entire exercise. The Eagles return 10 of 11 starters from the unit that cruised to a Super Bowl title, and they even did a nice job creating competition for Mekhi Becton’s vacant guard spot by trading for Kenyon Green. They have the best running back in football, an elite receiver duo, a quality tight end and the top offensive line in the game. Maybe there’s some small cause for concern with the loss of playcaller Kellen Moore to the Saints — first-time OC Kevin Patullo has been on staff since 2021 — but there’s too much talent here to lose sleep over it."

Philadelphia's only position of change will be at right guard, as Becton is no longer with the team, and either Tyler Steen or Green will likely fill the role. The usual suspects are back on the line with Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson. All four are considered to be at least the top five at their positions.

While the passing game is sometimes overlooked, the Eagles boast what is considered the best wide receiver duo in the league, featuring A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Their tight end, Dallas Goedert, has been a reliable target in the passing game as well over the last seven-plus years when healthy.

Arguably, the most crucial piece to the supporting cast, though, is Saquon Barkley in the backfield. His record-breaking 2,504 rushing yards last year set the precedent that the Eagles were a running team first, and he can handle the load.

Hurts' offense is built for success and should have no problems keeping this unit in the top 10 once again. No other NFL player has the weapons and the protection that he has, which makes a back-to-back Super Bowl championship more realistic this year than in other years for Super Bowl winners.
