[Liverpool](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/) have been on the hunt for the successor to Andy Robertson at left back since last summer. One of the names most consistently linked with the Reds is Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. The Hungary international has been viewed as a player on the rise, with the 21 year old being viewed as a strong ball progressor down the flank.
The chatter around Kerkez to Liverpool has only gained momentum as the season has progressed, especially with Andy Robertson showing he has lost a step or two now that he is in his 30s. In a recent interview with the Hungarian outlet [MLSZ TV](https://www.nemzetisport.hu/legiosok/2025/05/kerkez-90-perc-a-premier-league-ben-olyan-mint-mashol-230), Kerkez said that the leaks have fueled his desire to perform.
“Of course, something always leaks into the news. I don’t know how. At the same time, I think it’s normal that if you play well and the team does well, then you get into the news and end up on the front page, and everyone talks about you.”
“I see this as fuel that drives me forward. All this doesn’t break me, but it doesn’t ‘boost’ my ego either, but it teaches me humility and motivates me.”
If Kerkez does join Liverpool, as seems likely at this point, he will already have a close friend in the squad. The young left back said that he is extremely close with national team compatriot and Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
“We met when I first joined the national team and we spoke German because I didn’t dare to speak Hungarian yet. He switched to German and accepted me.”
“From then on, we spoke every day and got to know each other better. We are still very close, we write to each other or call each other every other day, we talk about many things. It feels good to have a friend who always answers the phone. When you call him, he answers and doesn’t put his mobile on silent.”
