The Buffalo Bills were in the bottom half of the league this past season in sacks, so they went out and addressed it in free agency.
In a recent article by PFF, they talk about some of the key players on every NFL team's starting lineup. For the reigning AFC East champions, they think that their new acquisition, Joey Bosa, will be an "X-factor" for the team.
"Injuries seemed to have caught up with Joey Bosa a bit in 2024, as he ranked just 71st among edge defenders with a 61.1 PFF overall grade. That was more than 10 points lower than his previous worst mark in 2018. When he was at his best, Bosa was a top-10 edge defender in the league. Buffalo is hoping he can recapture that form after signing him this offseason," PFF wrote.
And speaking of injuries ... fans have a bit of a reason to worry now as a calf problem is going to sideline Bosa until training camp.
The Bills signed the veteran edge rusher to a one-year, $12.6 million deal back in March after he was released by the Los Angeles Chargers, and he will be looking to prove that he is worth that money.
The last semi-complete season that Bosa played was in 2021, where he finished with 10.5 sacks and was named a Pro Bowler. Injuries have plagued him the past few seasons, which is why he is considered an "X-factor", because how he plays could have a big impact on the team.
Buffalo once again lost in the AFC Championship to the Kansas City Chiefs, so Bosa and the rest of the team's defense will be looking to help lead the team back to the playoffs to redeem themselves.
