Caoimhin Kelleher transfer latest - Brentford land huge Leeds United blow after Liverpool…

With the summer transfer window officially open, the future of Leeds United transfer 'target' Caoimhin Kelleher looks as if it is to be decided quickly.

As per Leeds Live sister site, the Liverpool ECHO, the newly-promoted Whites are one Premier League club who hold an interest in the Liverpool goalkeeper. An offer north of £20m would win the race, with the champions having made the decision to sell the Irish international.

And it is understood that whilst interest from Elland Road has not been denied, there are no immediate Whites' transfer plans in place and a first arrival is some way off.

Will this calm approach be to Leeds' detriment in the case of Kelleher? Leeds Live summarise the latest reports around the goalkeeper.

Brentford committed

It would appear Brentford are the team to beat to Kelleher's signature with Sky Sports reporting the Londoners have entered advanced talks with Anfield chiefs.

Earlier on Sunday it had been reported that the Bees had agreed in principle the exit of their current goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, to Bayer Leverkusen in a €10m (£8.4m) deal.

Here, it is said that won't go through officially until Brentford have secured Kelleher's arrival to become their new first-choice, which would mean time is running out for Leeds.

Man United claim

Before this latest piece of news, ESPN's Mark Ogden had suggested Manchester United could make a highly unlikely attempt for Kelleher.

Citing the unsteady form of both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir at Old Trafford, he was discussing who could replace both in Ruben Amorim's side.

Kelleher's name was mentioned, though with a pinch of salt as any deal between Man United and Liverpool would break all boundaries of their fierce rivalry.

What has Kelleher said?

Speaking after lifting the Premier League trophy last Sunday, the Irishman told Optus Sport: "I feel like I'm a number one and good enough to play week-in, week-out. And that's what I'm looking to do. This season I was lucky enough to play a lot of games but yeah, definitely something I am looking at."

It isn't the first time this season he has made clear that he wishes to be a starting goalkeeper, but behind Alisson that was always going to be a tough request.
