Madrid Mayor Expresses Optimism About Resuming Concerts at Santiago Bernabéu

In a recent interview with _Servimedia_, Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida expressed confidence that concerts would eventually resume at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, despite their current suspension due to noise complaints from nearby residents and an ongoing judicial investigation.

“I am absolutely convinced that we will be able to reach this agreement, because it will be good for the city and good for the residents,” said Martínez-Almeida.

Concerts at the newly renovated Bernabéu have been halted after residents in the Chamartín neighborhood raised concerns about noise levels and disturbances stemming from recent large-scale music events. The matter has since escalated to the courts.

“There is a criminal proceeding that is ongoing,” the mayor acknowledged, adding that “out of prudence, while that criminal proceeding is ongoing, it is difficult to make a decision on the matter.”

Still, the City Council and [Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) are actively working on technical and regulatory fronts to pave the way for the stadium’s return as a premier concert venue. According to the mayor, Real Madrid is conducting technical studies aimed at improving the acoustic conditions inside and outside the stadium. Once those studies are complete, the club will submit its findings to the City Council “for the purposes of authorization or non-authorization.”

Martínez-Almeida emphasized that the city is equally committed to supporting residents’ quality of life while allowing for cultural and entertainment events to thrive. “We will continue working to ensure that concerts can be held at the Bernabéu, and that they can always be held while respecting the rest and well-being of residents,” he stated.

The mayor reiterated his strong support for the use of the Santiago Bernabéu as a multifunctional venue. “I’m in favor of concerts because it’s a very important infrastructure for the city,” he said, pointing to the stadium’s ability to host world-class events “like Taylor Swift or the NFL game.”
