Ineos missed out on £83m Khvicha Kvaratskhelia deal

Ahead of January, reports claimed United were willing to pay £83m for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with the 24-year-old impressing at Napoli.

United’s interest in Kvaratskhelia dates back to 2023, but the best opportunity to secure his signature came in the latest January transfer window.

United discussed swapping Marcus Rashford for Kvaratskhelia in January, with the Napoli star pushing to leave, but eventually the Red Devils missed out to PSG.

PSG paid just £59m for Kvaratskhelia in January, with the relatively low fee raising a few eyebrows. Since then, he has been tearing it up in Paris.

Kvaratskhelia has become Ineos’ biggest regret, and he rubbed salt in the wounds when he lifted the Champions League on Saturday evening.

PSG recorded the biggest-ever victory in a Champions League final on Saturday evening, beating Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored PSG’s fourth of the game – his 12th goal of the season across all competitions.

By lifting the Champions League, Kvaratskhelia has set an unbelievable record by winning the quadruple.

PSG completed the treble by winning the Champions League having already won the Coupe de France and Ligue 1 this season.
