A major company loss has been felt by the ESPN community this weekend:

Longtime ESPN reporter Gene Wojciechowski announced his departure on Saturday. The longtime ESPN reporter took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to open up about his departure from the network. He has good feelings toward ESPN despite his exit.

“After 27 1/2 yrs, my official last day on the ESPN books.

Owe 1,000 thanks, but forever grateful to J Skipper, J Papanek, Steve Wulf, P Stiegman, Lee Fitting, Mike McQuade, D Kraft, Joe W, @KirkHerbstreit , @ReceDavis , Tom Rinaldi, @Jimmyggg44 , @cbfowler +every editor/prod/crew,” he wrote.

Tributes for the prominent ESPN reporter have been pouring in on social media.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is among those saddened by his departure.
