“Rebranded” | ExWHUEmployee | Pre-season Cup fixture at London Stadium in works

**West Ham are set to host a new pre-season cup game at the London Stadium this summer, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.**

It’s been a tradition for many years that the club would host a ‘Betway Cup’ fixture during pre-season, however with the club set to move over to BoyleSport for a year, commencing this campaign, our insider has advised that there are now plans in place with a team set to be confirmed for the encounter.

“West Ham’s last preseason fixture should be a home game a week before the kick off to the Premier League season,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.

“The fixture is expected to be on the Saturday 9th August at the London Stadium. We haven’t had official confirmation of this from the club at this time but it has come from a reliable source.

“The game was traditionally called the Betway Cup but Betway will no longer be the sponsor. All links to Betway are due to expire on the 30th June.

“Whether the game will be called after the new sponsors or not remains to be seen. This could mean that it is rebranded as the BoyleSport Cup but we haven’t had confirmation on this.

“The opponent in this game is expected to be French side Lille. Lille currently have two targets of West Ham’s in Jonathan David and Angel Gomes but both are expected to leave by the game as both their contracts are up and sadly it doesn’t look like they will be joining West Ham at this stage.

“Lille finished 5th in the French league last season. Lille also have Kylian’s younger brother Ethan Mbappe and former Arsenal keeper Vito Mannone.”
