Brentford are wasting no time in reinforcing their squad ahead of the new season—and it looks like they’ve finally landed their top goalkeeping target.
Brentford have reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool for goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in a deal initially worth £12.5 million, saccoroding to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas.
The total package could rise to £18 million with add-ons included, depending on performance-related bonuses and appearance milestones.
The 26-year-old has long been admired by the Bees, who have been in the market for a new No.1 following developments surrounding Mark Flekken’s potential exit.
Kelleher, who impressed during his appearances for Liverpool whenever called upon, is now set to step into a more prominent starting role after years as a dependable deputy at Anfield.
The agreement marks a significant moment in Brentford’s transfer window, as they secure a Premier League-experienced shot-stopper with a proven track record in high-pressure games, including domestic cup finals and European fixtures.
