The Kelce brothers have made another bold business move, this time venturing into professional sports ownership. Jason and Travis Kelce, through their co-owned beer company Garage Beer, have purchased a stake in the St. Joseph Goats, a professional indoor football team competing in The Arena League.
The announcement came Thursday when Garage Beer revealed it had become part-owners of the Missouri-based franchise, holding a 1 percent ownership stake in the team. The move represents more than just a typical sponsorship deal for the NFL legends who have been expanding their business portfolio since Jason’s retirement from the Philadelphia Eagles following the 2023 season.
“From the beer fridge to the front office, the Goats are now powered by the same crisp, uncomplicated energy that fuels Garage Beer,” the company announced in their characteristically playful press release. “This is more than a sponsorship — it’s a bold, possibly confusing leap into the world of professional sports ownership, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
The timing and location of this acquisition hold special significance for Travis Kelce. St. Joseph, Missouri, located about 50 miles north of Kansas City, has served as the site of the Chiefs training camp since 2010. This geographical connection gives the Kansas City tight end a familiar tie to the community and team he now co-owns.
The Goats, formerly known as the Kansas City Goats until their recent name change in April 2025, were one of the four inaugural teams when The Arena League launched in 2023. The team plays their home games at the St. Joseph Civic Arena and has shown promising performance on the field.
The Kelce brothers join an ownership group that includes some notable figures in Kansas City sports history. Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame running back Christian Okoye, Gates BBQ CEO George Gates II, and local sports-radio personality Steven St. John were part of the founding ownership group. The league itself is experiencing growth, expanding from its original four teams to six franchises currently, with plans to reach 12 teams by 2026.
This venture represents the latest chapter in the Kelce brothers’ growing business empire. The duo became part-owners of Cincinnati-based Garage Beer in 2024, adding to their already successful “New Heights” podcast, which has become one of the most popular sports podcasts in the country.
The Goats will debut their new Garage Beer–sponsored uniforms as they begin their season, with fans promised exclusive merchandise, behind-the-scenes content and continued updates from their new celebrity owners. As the Kelce brothers continue to prove that their influence extends far beyond the football field, their venture into arena football ownership demonstrates how modern athletes can leverage their platform and expertise to remain connected to the sport they love, even as their playing careers evolve.
