Competition for places is always likely to happen at an elite club such as Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta has already shown how ruthless football can be when brutally replacing Aaron Ramsdale with David Raya, as the Spaniard proved he will quite easily make changes if he feels an upgrade can be implemented.
Now, Jurrien Timber could be at risk of seeing Ben White re-establish himself at right-back for Arsenal after a rumour involving Viktor Gyokeres emerged.
Ben White and Viktor Gyokeres connection could sideline Jurrien Timber
The Sweden international could be moving to north London.
Sacha Tavolieri claims that Arsenal have found a verbal agreement with Gyokeres as Andrea Berta aims to sign a new striker for Arteta.
🇸🇮 🔴⚪️ RB Leipzig have indeed started negotiations with Arsenal over the Benjamin Šeško deal. Gunners’ objective is to make progress on several fronts simultaneously to avoid being left empty-handed if talks were to break down.
For now, Šeško does not have a personal agreement… pic.twitter.com/lAOZSEDWCY

Talks are also continuing with Benjamin Sesko – however – as the Gunners want to have back-up options in case any discussions collapse.
White knows Gyokeres well from their time together at Brighton, and the duo even went viral recently after footage emerged of the Arsenal No.4 assisting the Swede with a lovely pass into the right channel.

If Arsenal do end up signing the Sporting CP No.9 this summer, and their chemistry on the pitch is resurrected, it could leave Timber in a spot of bother.
The Dutchman could miss the start of next season after undergoing surgery on his ankle, so, if White and Gyokeres strike up a deadly partnership during his recovery period, having become familiar with each other at Brighton, Arteta may not want to disturb the link-up by dropping the England international as soon as Timber is back.
At Brighton, the pair made nine appearances together, winning three and drawing three as White seemed to enjoy playing behind the mobile Swede, who often causes chaos with his movement.
Mikel Arteta can still find ample game time for Jurrien Timber
Should the aforementioned scenario actually come true, the Netherlands international could well lose his place at right-back, but his immense versatility should still see him receive ample playing time.

Timber, who Bukayo Saka admires, has previously made 22 appearances at left-back, and even two in central midfield.
The 23-year-old can also boast 170 appearances as a centre-back, but chances in that area may be scarce due to the presence of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.
