For the past two decades, Damien Comolli has held front office positions in England, France and Turkey. He hasn’t previously worked in Italy and gotten a taste of how things in Serie A operate.
He’s about to find out at the biggest club Italian football has to offer.
Juventus announced Sunday evening that they have hired the 52-year-old Comolli as the club’s new general manager, the first in what is expected to be a busy month of June in which the front office is reshaped under his direction. Comolli spent the previous five seasons as the club president at French side Toulouse, where he stepped down less than a week ago in anticipation of his move to Turin. With Comolli set to officially begin his time at Juventus on June 4, the wheels are in motion for the reshaping of the front office, with current Chief Football Officer Cristiano Giuntoli set to leave the club after two seasons in Turin, including a 2024-25 campaign that involved a roster remake and managerial hire that didn’t work out nearly as well as anybody hoped it would.
Comolli will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Maurizio Scanavino, according to Juventus’ announcement posted to the club website.

Here is the announcement in which we also get an update about what Giorgio Chiellini’s new role at Juventus will be for the 2025-26 season:
Juventus welcomes Damien Comolli, who will join the Club in the role of General Manager on 4 June 2025, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer Maurizio Scanavino.
A leader with extensive international experience, Damien Comolli brings a strong background enriched with technical, managerial, and strategic competencies, built over more than thirty years at the highest levels of European football. He has held key roles at prestigious clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Fenerbahce, and, most recently, Toulouse, where he led the club to the promotion to Ligue 1 and the victory in the Coupe de France.
Damien Comolli will be responsible for the Men’s Football Area as well as the Marketing and Commercial Departments. Giorgio Chiellini, a legendary figure of the Club, will report to him in the role of Director of Football Strategy and will play a key role by embodying the values and spirit of Juventus.
Comolli has reportedly signed a three-year contract with Juventus. If he does see out the full amount of time of that contract — and potentially beyond that if things go well — it will be one of the longest stints at one club that he has had in his two-decade-long career in team management.
Juventus are expected to hire a new sporting director to partner with Comolli and lead the coaching search for next season. With Igor Tudor’s future at Juve very much uncertain beyond the Club World Cup later this month and two of the top reported targets, Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini, already off the board, it’s still unknown if the man who managed the Bianconeri in the 2024-25 season finale will be there during the season opener in August or if there will be somebody else in charge.
