A host of Manchester United players have approved the arrival of Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha after the club announced he would be joining.

Cunha became a target for United soon after he helped his old club beat the Reds at Old Trafford in April. After signing a new contract at Wolves this season, the Brazilian ensured a £62.5m release clause was included.

During the clash at Old Trafford, Cunha was seen sharing a moment with Ruben Amorim at half-time which fuelled speculation that a move to United could be on the horizon. And so it proved as the Reds announced the deal on Sunday, June 1 - the first day of the summer transfer window.

United activated Cunha's £62.5m release clause to sign the versatile forward. He has joined on a five-year contract with the club holding an option for a further year.

As is routine when new signings are confirmed, United posted content to their social media account. Being a Sunday out of the normal season, supporters will have to wait to hear from their new signing but the club did release a graphic on Instagram confirming his arrival which he replied to with the love heart and fire emojis.

Among those to express their support for the signing were Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, Amad, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes who all liked the post. Despite being the captain, Fernandes is the player who is deemed least likely to be at Old Trafford next season, as things stand.

MEN Sport understands the midfielder is 'seriously considering' a move to Al Hilal this summer. Fernandes' agent Miguel Pinhos was in Riyadh this week to discuss terms of a deal with the Saudi Pro League club.

Al Hilal, who are set to compete in the Club World Cup this month, are trying to sign Fernandes before the tournament in the United States begins. It has been rumoured that the financial package on offer to the midfielder could be worth as much as £700,000 per week.
