Man United agree£62.5 million deal for forward

Manchester United came from behind to beat Hong Kong and avoid another embarrassing defeat in Asia on Friday.

The Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by ASEAN All-Stars in the first game of their South Asian tour, and they fell behind once again against Hong Kong before Chido Obi levelled things up.

The youngster then put Ruben Amorim’s side in front, before defender Ayden Heaven added a third to ensure victory in added time.

After a disastrous season, Amorim will be keen to bolster his squad this summer, and the Manchester outfit have already agreed their first signing of the summer.

The Red Devils announced on Sunday that they had agreed a deal to sign Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

United are believed to have triggered the £62.5 million release clause in Cunha’s current contract with Wolves, and the signing is now subject to visa and registration.

In total he has played 92 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 33 goals and also providing 15 assists.

Last term he netted 15 times in 33 Premier League games to help steer Vitor Pereira’s side away from the threat of relegation.

Cunha will add much-needed firepower to a United attacking roster that struggled last term.

The likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund both struggled in front of goal for Amorim’s side, netting just seven times in 64 combined appearances in the Premier League last term.

The Brazilian’s versatility will also likely appeal to Amorim, with Cunha able to play on either flank or as a striker, as well as in his more natural role as a ‘number ten’.
