Manchester City are set for a significant overhaul behind the scenes after multiple exits have been confirmed at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side finished the campaign in third place in the Premier League table despite suffering several dips in form.

The 10-time English champions failed to secure any major trophies following their FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace.

Guardiola has decided to reshuffle his backroom team after the club have confirmed three members of staff will leave the Etihad.

Assistant coaches Juanma Lillo and Inigo Dominguez are heading for an exit following the expiration of their contracts, while Carlos Vicens has agreed to become the new Braga manager.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it is “surprising” to see all three assistants leave the club.

Man City offered ‘attractive’ opportunity

Borson revealed Man City likely see it as an “attractive” proposition to change their backroom team after enduring a challenging season.

He told Football Insider: “I don’t really know what’s behind it, but it is a bit of a surprise, especially the way it was described that they hadn’t been offered new contracts.

“I can’t believe that wasn’t communicated some time ago. That seems unlikely, so I guess it’s more likely this has been part of the plan probably since Pep decided to stay on.

“I suspect at that point they had a conversation with the support team, and those that were staying knew they were staying and those that weren’t knew they weren’t.

“I doubt it all just sort of came together in the last few weeks, which is sort of the way that’s been reported.

“But Pep has changed his team over the years a number of times, so that probably keeps it fresh.

“Obviously, the proof will be in the pudding, but things have not been brilliant this season.

“I think in terms of finding a new setup or something that can change what’s happened this season probably is quite attractive to them.”

Jack Grealish drops Man City exit bombshell

In terms of another potential exit, Football Insider revealed on 22 May Jack Grealish has told friends he doesn’t expect to be at Man City next season.

The England international has confided to those close to him that he believes he has been “frozen out” by Guardiola because the manager wants him to seek a move away.

A huge complication in any exit is the 29-year-old’s wages, which are believed to be worth around £300,000 a week.
