Paul Mitchell could land another high-profile job very quickly after leaving Newcastle United.
Mitchell’s short time as Newcastle United’s sporting director is coming to a close.
Indeed, Newcastle have confirmed Mitchell will leave the club at the end of June despite only arriving as Dan Ashworth’s replacement in 2024.
Hopefully, that doesn’t impact the club’s transfer plans. Newcastle are adamant Mitchell’s exit won’t stop them signing players, though that remains to be seen.
Owners PIF are set to back Eddie Howe in the transfer market, so it seems the club will be able to carry on without a sporting director in place for now.
Interestingly, the Newcastle United owners may find a new place for Mitchell after his Newcastle exit.

Paul Mitchell could move to Al-Hilal when he leaves Newcastle United
According to talkSPORT, Mitchell is on a three-man shortlist to move to PIF-owned club Al-Hilal.
The Saudi Pro League side are on the hunt for a new sporting director and are also understood to have reached out to Liverpool’s Michael Edwards.

The report adds that they are hoping to appoint Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi as their new manager, fresh from his 5-0 loss at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday night’s Champions League final.
Interestingly, the same outlet claimed on Saturday that Newcastle held advanced talks to appoint Inzaghi as Howe’s replacement earlier this season.
Obviously, despite some turbulence, Howe turned things around and recorded the most memorable campaign in the club’s recent history, winning the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League.
Why Newcastle United fans are happy to see Paul Mitchell leave
PIF remain on good terms with Mitchell despite his quick-fire Newcastle exit.
Time will tell how successful he has been on Tyneside. Mitchell has signed some young players, who will need to develop under Howe before either breaking into the first-team or moving on to a new club.
Still, supporters appear quite happy to see him depart. Newcastle fans were unhappy with Mitchell, after he reportedly made little secret of the fact he thought the club overpaid for Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.
Given both are young full-backs already performing at the highest level with most of their careers still ahead of them, that did seem a strange claim.
