At some point, a big name player will leave Newcastle United.
Thus far, Newcastle United owners PIF have managed to keep most of their prized assets, even if Eddie Howe made it clear he didn’t want to lose Elliot Anderson or Yankuba Minteh last summer.
Still, that cannot last forever.
While Newcastle do not need to sell a big summer player this summer, that doesn’t mean one won’t go at some point. Even if the club aren’t under any imminent financial pressure, change is just part of football.
Liverpool, after all, cashed in on Philippe Coutinho and used those proceeds to build a squad who won the Premier League and the Champions League. It happens, even if it’s nothing to do with PSR.
All of that brings us to fresh claims about Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle United would rather sell Anthony Gordon than Tino Livramento
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds remain interested in a move for the England international.
Liverpool almost signed Gordon in 2024 but Newcastle eventually sold the aforementioned Anderson and Minteh instead.
They claim that Newcastle would find selling the former Everton youngster more palatable than cashing in on either Alexander Isak or Tino Livramento.

Isak has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs, while Manchester City want to sign Livramento.
It’s also added Gordon’s price tag is set at around £80million and that a fresh approach from the Anfield giants is possible.
Anthony Gordon has made a promise to Newcastle United fans
Despite enduring a mixed season, Gordon recently sent a message to Newcastle fans on social media.
While there are mitigating factors, even the player’s most ardent supporter would surely admit he struggled to recapture the same kind of form he enjoyed during the 2023/24 campaign.
Clearly, that doesn’t mean the club instantly have to cash in. At his best, the forward can be brilliant.

Anthony Gordon stats for Newcastle United over last two seasons
Perhaps no one needs to leave this summer. The point is, however, is that one of the elite players will at some point.
Interestingly, after the final game of the campaign, Gordon said he was “looking forward” to next season at Newcastle.
Clearly, things can change, but that doesn’t sound like a man ready to depart just yet.
