Anthony Edwards in Danger of Losing Crucial Timberwolves Teammate This Offseason

Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves made the conference finals this season for the second straight year.

The Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round and the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2025 Western Conference playoffs.

Just like last year, Minnesota lost in the 2025 conference finals in five games. The Timberwolves lost to the Dallas Mavericks last year and fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder this year.

Edwards and Rudy Gobert are under contract with the Timberwolves for the foreseeable future. Julius Randle has a player option worth $31 million to return to Minnesota next season. The lefty can pick up his player option or decline it and enter unrestricted free agency.

Most NBA observers expect Randle to be back with the Timberwolves.

However, the future of Naz Reid is up in the air.

According to Jake Fischer and Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Reid is expected to decline his player option for next season and enter unrestricted free agency this offseason.

The Detroit Pistons, who made the playoffs this year for the first time since 2019, are interested in signing Reid.

Reid averaged 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the Timberwolves this season while shooting 46.2% from the field, 37.9% from beyond the arc and 77.6% from the foul line.

In the 2025 playoffs, Reid averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 15 games against the Lakers, Warriors and Thunder.

Reid, who turns 26 in August, has career averages of 11.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists. It will be fascinating to see if he's back with the Timberwolves or on a new team next season.
