Brighton & Hove Albion have slapped a £70 million price tag on in-demand forward Joao Pedro, with Arsenal and Liverpool among those linked.
According to The Sun, Joao Pedro is set to cost at least £70 million as Brighton & Hove Albion names their price for the Brazilian attacker. Liverpool and Arsenal are among those keen on the 23-year-old as those are the teams in search of a goalscorer in this market.
Brighton & Hove Albion are known for their work in the transfer market, as they usually tend to make a hefty profit on player sales. Ahead of the summer window, they are probably bracing for offers to come in for some of their productive stars, including Joao Pedro.
As the report reiterates a recent claim of a bust-up involving Pedro in the Brighton camp, the club are not thinking about selling the 23-year-old Brazilian for that particular reason. They are open to keeping him as the attacker is viewed as one of their key players.
Yet, many top clubs are lining up a potential move in the window, as the likes of Arsenal are keen, while Liverpool are among those monitoring his situation. Brighton have slapped a £70 million price tag on the 23-year-old Brazilian, which might entice a few clubs towards the attacker.
Chelsea have already distanced themselves from the chase despite reports linking them earlier, which potentially leaves the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the hunt. The big question here is whether those clubs are willing to pay the big price, particularly as reports have increasingly pointed at the duo prioritising other names.
Arsenal and Liverpool unlikely to sign Joao Pedro?
Arsenal have already ramped up efforts to sign Benjamin Sesko, as the Slovenian seems like their top striker target. In case they do not make the move for the RB Leipzig star, Viktor Gyokeres is the next important name on their list, as Pedro might be further down that order. Hence, the chances of the Gunners signing the 23-year-old Brazilian seem remote unless there’s a dramatic late twist.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are chasing Hugo Ekitike as their priority striker target, and though talks have not progressed to an advanced level yet, the Frenchman is surely ahead of Pedro in the pecking order. While the Reds could still have the 23-year-old Brazilian on their list, he’s certainly not their priority target even though the price point is within range.
