No, The Bucs Are Not Going To Trade For Will Levis To Backup Baker Mayfield

_“Baker, this is idiotic!”_

Joe cannot believe he’s been triggered by something so stupid, but here we are.

This Cody Benjamin of CBS is a dullard. Not only does it appear he sits at his home office located somewhere where frost is a real thing in October, but if he has a brain, he sure as hell doesn’t use it.

Benjamin, who specializes in throwing feces against the wall, always seems to give the Bucs kudos only if he has to, and even at that, half-heartedly. His latest attempt to offer intelligent analysis of the Bucs is just downright dumb.

Benjamin, with the June 1 cut/trade window open, thinks the Titans can save cap space by training now backup quarterback Will Levis. You know Levis, the same clown who eats banana peels and puts mayo in his coffee.

If that isn’t gross enough, you should see his play at quarterback. He has been so miserable of a quarterback, the Titans spent a No. 1 overall pick to replace him.

Now, Benjamin is connecting dots to try to get [Levis to the Bucs](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfls-post-june-1-period-top-2025-cut-trade-candidates-include-falcons-kirk-cousins-dolphins-tyreek-hill/).

> The Tennessee Titans aren’t rushing to move on from the former second-round pick, at least publicly, but ever since the club’s new regime spent this year’s No. 1 overall pick on Cam Ward, the writing has been on the wall. Could coach Brian Callahan retain the big-armed youngster as Ward’s backup? Perhaps. But the Titans could save $1.6 million by trading Levis after June 1, whereas a trade or release prior to June 1 would’ve only saved the franchise about $600,000.

> **Potential landing spots:** Buccaneers, Lions, Rams

> **Prediction:** Traded to Buccaneers

So, the Titans could save cap space by unloading Levis, but the Bucs would want to take on his salary… why exactly?

If Benjamin had taken three minutes to think this through (if he was capable of such thought), the Bucs are going to have a bunch of starters looking for new contracts in the next two years. A bunch! This is what happens when you draft well.

And, oh yeah, if Baker Mayfield and the Bucs do anything this year, Mayfield will likely (rightfully) want a new deal.

So the Bucs want to make it harder on themselves financially by taking on Levis’ contract. Smart!

Joe was talking with a Bucs employee recently and threw out at him JoeBucsFan.com columnist and the Sage of Tampa Bay sports, Ira Kaufman’s pet peeve that the Bucs need a better backup than Kyle Trask.

This person who works for the Bucs countered, “So we go out and get some loser of a quarterback just because he wasn’t good enough to keep his starting job and then pay him $10 million?”

Joe cannot argue with that at all. Again, the Bucs will have a lot of mouths to feed the next two years. They don’t want another who they have to feed expensive banana peels and guzzle mayo in coffee.
