Deion Sanders has honest take on NFL snubbing his sons Shedeur and Shilo

Deion Sanders is choosing to see the bright side in his sons not garnering much interest in the 2025 NFL draft.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders fell all the way to the fifth round despite once being in the discussion to become the No. 1 overall pick. Older brother Shilo Sanders went undrafted after not even being invited to the NFL Combine.

Deion Sanders recently weighed in on his sons’ unsavory first taste of the NFL. Speaking on former NFL star Asante Samuel’s “Say What Needs To Be Said” podcast, Coach Prime admitted that the lack of interest “hurt” him, but claimed that it could help Shedeur and Shilo become successful NFL players in the long run.

“The bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise,” said Deion, via Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. “There was some foolish stuff that went on, but that gave them something that they needed.

“…That edge that Tom [Brady] had, it gave them the edge that you (referencing Samuel) had. It gave them the edge that I have. Folks said we weren’t gonna be nothing. But we had to prove that. It gave them the edge that they needed. Both of them.”

It’s very on-brand for Deion Sanders to compare his children to Tom Brady. But there seems to be a nugget of truth to what Deion is saying. Several reports noted that Shedeur was not exactly a model of humility during his pre-draft interviews. Getting knocked back down to earth could be exactly what the two young prospects need, especially Shedeur, as they begin their NFL careers.

Shedeur was drafted into a messy quarterback situation on the Cleveland Browns. But the Colorado star has already drawn rave reviews for his early work during offseason workouts.

Shilo was also able to land a job with an NFC South team, which earned them a message of gratitude from Coach Prime himself.
