It may feel like a lifetime ago, but Erik ten Hag left Manchester United less than a year ago. During his time at the club, the Dutchman oversaw a significant overhaul.
Ten Hag made lots of new signings, while offloading players he considered surplus to requirements.

McTominay won the Scudetto with his new side, being crowned the Serie A MVP in the process. His goals were crucial in what was a monumental season for the Italian side.
McTominay is now immortalised in Naples, so it’s safe to say this transfer worked out.
Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood had a stellar season at Marseille. He bagged a marvellous 22 goals in 36 games in France.

He departed the Red Devils for good after a successful loan spell at Getafe and has well and truly cemented himself as a top-tier European forward.
Greenwood’s form has attracted interest from some elite-tier sides, but the Englishman does appear very happy at Marseille.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Another success story since departing Old Trafford is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The full-back has been sensational for West Ham.
Wan-Bissaka won Hammer of the Year at his new side, which is the equivalent of Player of the Season. The 27-year-old has become a firm fan favourite in East London.
Departing for just £15m, the former Crystal Palace man has been an absolute bargain for Graham Potter.
Willy Kambwala

The first player to somewhat struggle away from Carrington, Willy Kambwala hasn’t exactly hit the ground running at Villarreal.
The French centre-back played 19 times for his new side, starting just 12 of these fixtures, and hasn’t exactly set La Liga alight.
Still young, Kambwala has bags of potential, so this is one to keep an eye on in years to come.

Hannibal Mejbri departed the Reds for good in search of first-team football – which he’s most definitely found at Burnley.
The Tunisian was an integral part of Burnley’s promotion-winning campaign and will face Manchester United in the Premier League next season.
Hannibal was particularly inspired towards the end of the season, putting in tenacious performances that United fans caught glimpses of during his time at Old Trafford.
Facundo Pellistri

Facundo Pellistri was another youngster who left Carrington in search of first-team football.
Panathinaikos was the Uruguayan’s destination, where he featured 36 times in the Super League and beyond. However – his stats were rather underwhelming. He got just four goals and five assists during the 24/25 campaign.
Again, a young player with bags of potential, but his first season wasn’t one to write home about.

Spanish full-back Alvaro Fernandez has been phenomenal for Benfica.
The 22-year-old made his loan move permanent last July, with United pocketing just £5m, which now looks like an absolute steal.
Fernandez now looks Real Madrid-bound, which is entirely frustrating for Red Devils fans given the fact he wasn’t given an opportunity at the club.
Donny van de Beek

The curious case of Donny van de Beek. Once dubbed as one of the world’s brightest talents, his career stagnated after a move to Manchester United.
Such is why he finally departed for a measly £420,600. A far cry from the £35m spent to lure him to Old Trafford.
Van de Beek has somewhat found fitness in Spain, but his output remains underwhelming. Two goals and two assists in 26 matches in La Liga, and just one more goal in nine games in all other competitions.
Raphael Varane

This one was heartbreaking. Rolls Royce Raphael Varane left on a free last summer, with Como his destination.
It’s safe to say it didn’t work out as planned. Varane got injured in his first game and was subsequently forced to retire from football.
The five-time Champions League winner has now adopted a board member role for the Italian side, advising on ‘youth development, education and product innovation’.
Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial’s Manchester United career was a strange one. He’ll go down as one of the best forwards they’ve had in recent times, but it could’ve been so much better.
Injuries eventually forced Martial to move, but since he departed, he’s thrived at AEK Athens. The Frenchman not only refound his fitness, but also his scoring touch.
Nice to see. Martial deserves a bit of luck after a torrid few last seasons in Manchester.
Omari Forson

Last, and probably least. Omari Forson has struggled at Monza.
Ten Hag was a fan of Forson, but his judgement may have been flawed, the Englishman has only played 217 minutes of football in Serie A for his new side, with no goals or assists.
Again, age is on his side, but if he’s struggling to break into the newly relegated Monza side – the future isn’t looking too bright.
