Report: David Moyes has just been recommended 'the complete midfielder' by Everton chiefs

Everton are looking to strengthen a number of positions across the pitch this summer transfer window.

David Moyes has identified four positions to recruit as a priority, with a centre-back, right-back, midfielder and right-winger on the agenda.

The Toffees are also expected to move for a striker, although, there is still hope Dominic Calvert-Lewin will extend his stay on Merseyside.

Moyes has been looking at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Matt O’Riley to add to his midfield ranks, but there is uncertainty around whether they’d sanction his sale, with the belief he’ll be a key performer next term.

Now, a fresh midfield target has just been added to Everton’s shortlist.

Everton chiefs recommend the ‘complete midfielder’ to David Moyes

Everton are in desperate need of a midfield overhaul after losing key duo Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala.

That said, they’ve wasted no time in identifying a replacement with Rangers’ Mohamed Diomande now shortlisted and recommended to Moyes by club chiefs, according to the Daily Express.

Diomande only joined Rangers on a permanent deal last summer but has already established himself as one of the best midfielders in Scotland.

The 23-year-old has registered 15 goal involvements this term despite operating predominantly as a defensive midfielder.

The Scottish giants want to retain his signature, but there is an acceptance that the cash-rich Toffees have the financial might to force their hand.

Diomande labelled the ‘complete midfielder’

Danish journalist Nicklas Dehn followed Diomande’s career before he joined the Gers and told BBC Sport last year that he was the complete midfielder.

“Sort of a complete midfielder, the typically complete midfielder, if you want to describe one, that can play this number eight and play little further up the field. He can actually play on the wings too, if that’s necessary.

“A very tactically flexible player with a great potential who’s just been developing on and on in this always very talented FC Nordsjaelland, who just know how to develop players. Rangers are getting a great prospect with a great potential.”

That’s certainly proved to be the case at Ibrox, and aged just 23, there is potential to go up a level on Merseyside, should a deal be completed.

A telling summer awaits.
