Forgotten Southampton loanee Samuel Edozie concluded his Anderlecht chapter on a thanking note where he made big strides as an emerging attacker.
Out of all the Saints who went on loan last season, Samuel Edozie was the most forgotten player among the fans. The plain reason? Edozie joined Anderlecht in the Belgian top flight which is far away from English football circles, thus, his name didn't get as much attention as he should.
Despite that, Edozie stepped up to carve out a breakthrough campaign for himself which was deemed as an adapting season by those in the Southampton board.
Now, that phase of his career is over and Edozie has extended his gratitude to Anderlecht for their constant backing.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Edozie took to social media saying: "To the players, coaching staff, supporters and everyone who makes Anderlecht the incredible club it is, I just wanted to say thank you for making me feel at home from day one."
Saints will have big expectations from Edozie under Still's guidance
Honestly, Edozie's off-field actions are admirable, he neither shied away from lifting the lid on his Southampton dreams nor while concluding his short but impactful chapter at Anderlecht.
Thus, his path to becoming a fan favourite figure at St. Mary's can be much easier than the other players. Simply, score goals and contribute in the Saints wins but will it be as plain sailing for him as it seems on the surface, that's a doubt.
Currently, the future Southampton attack is a mystery for the Southampton fanbase with largely fringe players like Ross Stewart being tipped to shine in the second division. Then, there are the starting Premier League forwards who appear to be "close but not close enough" to the exit door.
Therefore, the bottom line is there will be massive shuffling in the front three but Edozie is likely to be handed a fair amount of chances. If he wins Still's trust there, Edozie can fancy his chances of thriving in the Southampton shirt.
